Inspired by the common wrist temperature scanners seen during the pandemic days—those devices that people automatically raise their palms to, even though their accuracy is questionable—I designed a playful twist. Instead of measuring body temperature, my device displays festive Lunar New Year greetings when someone places their wrist near it.

Inside the 3D-printed case is an Arduino board with a VL6180X proximity sensor to detect wrists (or anything held near it). I unveiled this playful gadget at family gatherings, leaving my relatives both amused and puzzled. Who knew a fake temperature scanner could spread so much joy?
